Tesco Lotus supports World Diabetes Day

Millions of people globally are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. At Tesco we want to help colleagues, customers and their families make small changes to their lifestyle, and adopt healthy habits to help lower their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
To celebrate World Diabetes Day, Tesco Lotus in Thailand held a customer event offering free Type 2 diabetes screenings at all hypermarkets, alongside promotions on items such as low sugar soft drinks and low glycaemic index rice at all stores.
Our low sugar soft drinks support our reformulation programme where we’ve made thousands of the products our customers enjoy a little healthier by reducing the salt, sugar, fat and calories in them. This means that our customers can enjoy their favourite products knowing they are now better for them. In Thailand, we were the first retailer to reformulate all our own brand soft drinks to below 6g of sugar per 100ml.
In the UK, we work in partnership with three leading health charities and experts to promote healthy living and raise awareness of the risk factors to help prevent the biggest health challenges we face.
Our in-store pharmacies offer free Type 2 diabetes ‘Know Your Risk’ assessments, blood pressure checks and cholesterol checks, as well as providing free 'stop smoking' advice all year round for colleagues and customers.
